Hi everyone!!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Before I leave bonnie Scotland in August I wanted to do my annual charity fundraiser. Usually I participate in Pretty Muddy or do 5K runs with my best friends for Cancer Research but this year I have decided to raise money for a cause very close to my own heart.
For the past 10 years I have suffered from mild bouts of Alopecia which is an autoimmune disease resulting in hair loss. I have dealt with my condition well to an extent but suddenly in November of last year I went through possibly one of the worst spells of Alopecia I have ever had to deal with.
The hair on my scalp began to fall out in large clumps and I lost both eyebrows and eyelashes to my condition all within a matter of days and weeks. The severity of it all affected me in ways I never thought possible. I lost a lot of self-confidence, I became extremely nervous and anxious around other people and I still have great difficulty with sleep.
Luckily though I was and still am surrounded by my amazing family, friends and work colleagues who have been there every step of the way offering me constant support. I am now starting to accept my current situation and come to terms with my condition as I make progress physically, mentally and emotionally each and every day.
I have set up this JustGiving Page in the hope of raising awareness and funds for Alopecia UK and the people affected by this condition as there is no cure at the moment. I realise some people do not have the same support system that I have therefore I hope by participating in this Ben Nevis Challenge with some of my closest friends and family that I am able to helps others who are more in need than me.
