REVISED DATES FOR ICELANDIC TREK - 31ST AUGUST - 4TH SEPTEMBER 2016
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page in support of the North London Hospice.
A registered charity, the Hospice helps those with potentially life-limiting illnesses with specialist needs. They provide physical, emotional and spiritual care to patients and families, friends and carers within the Boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.
Being close to our Finchley office, the Hospice has become our nominated charity at St James London North. We have each been privileged to visit the Hospice and experience first hand the tremendous support, commitment and compassion of all the staff and we have seen for ourselves the facilities they provide to ensure the last days or weeks for their patients are as comfortable and as positive as they can be.
The Hospice has a multi-professional team consisting of specially trained doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, social workers, counsellors and chaplains. All of them are committed to ensuring that patients receive full support, enabling them to choose how they receive care and helping them to live life to its fullest despite their illness.
The Hospice relies heavily on donations and legacies to meet the cost of providing such care. It costs more than £7m every year to fund their services, and yet all their care is provided to the community free of charge.
If, by challenging myself to trek the 53km (33 miles) over the Icelandic terrain for 3 days, I can help the Hospice to continue such precious care in the community, I am very happy and honoured to do so. I follow in the steps of the determined teams from St James London North who have already raised thousands of pounds for the Hospice through trekking across the Sahara, cycling from London to Brussels, skydiving out of planes and many more fund-raising events.
Your support in this endeavour is so valued and appreciated. I thank you for your contribution irrespective of the amount and hope that I can share some of my experiences with you all when this challenge has been completed.
Thank you all
