Carl and I appreciate the work that Snowdon Trust does to support young people! Carl being a osteopath and myself being registered blind and working in education with the people that can benefit from their support.
The Snowdon Trust are a charity that assists physically and sensory disabled people to access vocational and academic courses in the UK by awarding grants. These can be for equipment and essential study needs. They only give awards where funding cannot be met through other channels. They believe that everyone must have the opportunity to reach their potential! - http://www.snowdontrust.org/
Their grants help cover additional costs that students incur as a result of their disability and where available statutory funding does not cover them. Costs include vital support such as sign language interpreters, people to take notes, computers, specialist software, wheelchairs or special accommodation and equipment.
About 100 grants are awarded each year, ranging from £250 to £2,500. Applications are reviewed by a selection panel. The panel is made up of both disabled and non-disabled people who have knowledge and understanding of a wide range of disabilities – from sight and hearing impairments to paralysis, cerebral palsy, arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, joint and bone diseases and lupus.
With more support for this charity, the young people of tomorrow can recieve these potentially life changing opportunity's to fulfil their potential and dreams.
