Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm running this half marathon to help support our Recovery College. The college works with and for people who have suffered mental illness; it's an inclusive environment which means clinicians and service users work together to understand what recovery means.
NHS funds are tight and we'd like to print and share a book, telling stories of Hope. The stories are real life narratives from people who have suffered from mental illness but have found a way forwards through their challenges.
One in four people suffer from mental illness during their life. It could be affecting you or your friends/family now. Recovery develops from hope. Belief that recovery is real provides an essential and motivating message of a better future. Our book will share stories of how real people overcame barriers and continue to tackle obstacles that confront them. We'd like to instill hope, inspiration and belief that readers can recover just as the authors did. The stories will help combat feelings of exclusion many feel. They'll top up the "hope-banks" of clinicians and carers too.
