We fund medical research into Duchenne to end this disease in ten years

Story

Thanks for visiting the London Stone Team Felix Just Giving page. We are truly grateful for your support of Team Felix. We're raising much-needed money in the fight against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).

Our friend Karl Kuhwald passed away last year after battling cancer. As well as being an unforgettable friend, Karl was a much loved and dedicated husband to Lisa, and a wonderful father to Oscar, Casper and twins Felix and Herbie.

In 2013, 3-year-old Felix was diagnosed with DMD. DMD is a devastating muscle-wasting condition that predominantly affects young boys. Most of whom will struggle with mobility by age 8 and become wheelchair
bound between the ages of 10 and 14.

DMD is a life limiting condition, and most boys will only live into their twenties, suffering from heart or respiratory failure. Medical advancements are being made all the time though and new treatments are on the horizon. Felix and other boys like him are still young enough to benefit from these new drugs and therapies, but time is running out!

With your help, we aim to raise £30,000 in Karl’s memory to aid research into DMD and find a cure that will help Felix and other young boys suffering with DMD.

Karl and his wife Lisa set up Team Felix as a feeder charity to raise funds for Duchenne UK. All funds raised by Team Felix will be donated directly to Duchenne UK.  Duchenne UK is funding research into some potentially lifesaving treatments for Felix and other young boys suffering with DMD. Please visit www.duchenneuk.org for further details.

Duchenne UK has already raised significant funds but more is needed if a cure is to be found quickly

How we hope to raise £30,000 for Team Felix.

Permanent Web Presence: As well as a range of exciting fundraising events, we are committed to providing Team Felix with a permanent web page on the London Stone website. The page will contain details of Felix’s story, along with a link to the Just Giving page and information on how people can donate to Team Felix and Duchenne UK

World Duchenne Awareness Day: The 7th September is World Duchenne Awareness Day (http://www.worldduchenneday.org/) and we are planning various fundraising activities throughout the company. Keep watching our Facebook and Twitter feeds for news and updates (https://www.facebook.com/londonstoneuk/ and https://twitter.com/_LONDONSTONE). Support our main activity for the day by showing us what qualities make you strong. Tweet a picture of yourself proving your personal strength, whether it be physical, mental, emotional or otherwise, with the hashtag #ShowYourStrength. We will be donating £5 every time the #ShowYourStrength is tweeted on World Duchenne awareness day up to a maximum of £5000. Show your support for Team Felix and lets send the #ShowYourStrength viral.

Hadrian’s Wall Sponsored Walk: Provisionally planned for early September to coincide with World Duchenne Awareness Day, we are planning a 3 day sponsored walk along the length of Hadrian’s Wall. London Stone will be providing accommodation and transport for everyone who wants to take part so please get in touch if it’s something you’re interested in getting involved in. This is a fantastic way to raise funds and share some real camaraderie (and some laughs!) with a great team of fundraisers. Anyone and everyone is more than welcome to join us and your support would be much appreciated.  The only requirement is a commitment to personally raising £500 for Team Felix

Likes for Team FelixFelix and his twin brother, Herbie, celebrate their birthday on the 21st January. To celebrate with them, we will be making a £5 donation for every like the London Stone Facebook page receives throughout the month of January to a limit of £5000. Support Team Felix and other boys suffering from DMD by liking our Facebook page here in January 2017: https://www.facebook.com/londonstoneuk/

The Day of the Jackal:  Karl’s nickname was the Jackal. To celebrate Karl's birthday on the 9th April and to remember the life of a truly special person we introduce the 9th April as the day of the Jackal. On the Day of the Jackal we will donate 10% of London Stone’s turnover to Team Felix in memory of our friend Karl Kuhwald.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
