In memory of Stephen Ward
We really need your help to raise money to equip and furnish our new refuge for women and children fleeing domestic violence in Staffordshire.

Story

Myself and Steve Fairhurst will be riding from London to Paris in memory of our friend Wardie who sadly passed away in 2013.

Staffordshire Women's Aid has been working with Stafford Borough Council who Stephen worked for to provide vital flats for women and their children fleeing abusive relationships. They need £80,000 to fund the project. They are going to name the project ForWard House and the funding appeal is called Fund it ForWard

The ride will take place July 2016 and we will cover roughly 265 miles over 4 days.

For those that know me know that this ride is going to be really challenging as I am not in the best shape and I can't even ride 6 miles to work without getting a puncture so riding 265 miles in 4 days is really going to be a struggle.

Training is starting now so I thought the fundraising can start now as well

Please give what you can.

Will keep you updated on our training

Thanks

About the campaign

We really need your help to raise money to equip and furnish our new refuge for women and children fleeing domestic violence in Staffordshire.

About the charity

Staffordshire Women's Aid is a charitable and voluntary organisation that has been providing services for women and children living with, fleeing or recovering from the impact of domestic and sexual violence since 1976. We aim to support and empower women and children towards safer, more independent lives, free from violence and abuse. To achieve our charitable objectives, we provide the following services, delivered by a team of trained, specialist staff and volunteers across Staffordshire: Our Services include: • 24 Hour Helpline • Safe Refuge Accommodation • Domestic Violence Community Outreach Service • Children and Young People’s Support Service • SURVIVE Sexual Violence Service While our work is situated within the violence against women and girls agenda, we also offer services to male victims of abuse which are appropriately provided in safe, separate venues. Nearly 40 years on, we remain a grass roots, user-led organisation, placing at the heart of our work the views of the women and children we work with. We are extremely proud to have been awarded the Women’s Aid Federation of England National Quality Standard.
