Event: Guildford Cathedral Abseil, on 11 June 2017
We work with homeless and vulnerable adults to improve their quality of life & welfare

Story

On Saturday 11th June myself and a group of brave others have volunteered to climb the 249 steps to the top of Guildford cathedral bell tower and then abseil 160.76 ft back down to the ground.

This slightly terrifying event is all in aid of The Vine drop in Centre; A local charity close to my heart and home supporting street homeless and vulnerable adults in Aldershot, Rushmoor and north-east Hampshire.

The Vine Centre Journey Programme provides 20 vital frontline services from housing/benefit advice to help with job searches, all leading towards responsible independent living.

The drop-in centre also offers a healthy, hot meal at a reasonable price, shower and laundry facilities and clothing. Counselling and anger management. Job club. Art and Drama therapy and a safe place to relax and socialise.

In the winter months The Vine opens an Emergency Night Shelter for those who are street homeless. Last year the Night Shelter was awarded 'Excellent Practice Standards' in a Quality Mark accreditation via The Housing Justice.
