It's my birthday next week and I'm glad to celebrate another year of Life. It's been a tough year in lots of ways and I'm looking forward to drawing a line under it, as my dear friends Jon & Kathy would say.  I've spent quite a bit of time in the past several years at St. Mary's Hospital, with J&K, each time in heart-wrenching circumstances. 

The staff are an incredible blend of practical, efficient and compassionate - everything that you would want and need in a time of crisis. So with all the other news filling our screens at the moment, I'd like to celebrate those who act out in kindness in the midst of pain and suffering.
