Currently I manage five of Hestia's refuges in east London which provide a safe haven for women and children who have gone through the trauma of domestic abuse, as well as support to help them to rebuild their lives.  

Almost all of these women & children arrive to us with next to nothing.  As you can imagine, fleeing a desperate situation leaves them with no time to collect their belongings. Welfare and funding cuts are leading to an even greater hardship than they already face.  We hope to enable families to enjoy days out together or pampering days for mums so that they can recover, and to provide other basic items such as books and toiletries. 

So........ I have decided to take 'the plunge' by doing a fundraising skydive. May I add, the thought of jumping out of a plane petrifies me but I am prepared to do this because I know everyone reading this will give generously to support such an amazing cause!!
