Story
Neil Palmer, the founding member of The Arabian Knights, Club Chairman and
coach of its U16 team and influential in development of rugby in the UAE
has passed away.
His passion for rugby was enhanced by his sons' involvement, however the UAE
game benefited becoming more competitive, wider and deeper due to his vitality,
drive and energy.
Neil built the Knights on the foundations of youth, community and charity,
eventually partnering with Christina Noble Children's Foundation (CNCF).
His consistent support for the game and his club that saw all age groups represented up to adult and a fledgling female league start meant he quickly became an unofficial rugby ambassador for the UAE.
He helped with the formation of the UAE Rugby Federation and was instrumental in blending Emirati Nationals into the fabric of the Knights' teams.
Neil was a true rugby man, coaching his teams to play with vigour and panache while upholding its code and Corinthian values. Rival coaches were often invited to the Arabian Knights' evenings as Neil had a balanced view of rugby, both sporting and social.
I
leave the last words to what would undoubtedly be Neil's
"Goooooooooooooooooooooooo KNIGHTS."
