My mission is to do all I can to help raise money and awareness for CJD, the dreadful disease that killed my beautiful Mum. 

A human brain infected by CJD bears the tell-tale 'sponge-like' holes caused by this horrific disease. This effectively is brain tissue that is irreparably damaged; death is just around the corner. Having witnessed it first-hand I can tell you that it's an ugly, debilitating, rapidly degenerative disease which once started is unstoppable in its tracks. To see someone you love die of this disease is almost indescribable; numbness, loss of speech, loss of co-ordination, dementia, imbalance, hallucinations, depression, double-vision, spasms, jerking, myclonus, epilpesy, incontinence - to name but a few of the horrendous symptoms.

C JD is something we should all understand more about as sadly it'll probably affect many, many more of us before we start to take notice and do more about it.

It is a ticking time-bomb; not well recognised or heard of and something we should all know about. It can happen to anyone of us, suddenly and without warning. It's rapid, debilitating, cruel and destructive. 

We need to know more about it, understand more about how it happens, apply more help to those diagnosed and be able to give more support more quickly for the victims and their loved ones. 

We also need prevention, treatment and a hopeful cure for the future. 

This is my page and I aim to do as much as I can to fight this disease in my own lifetime. I shall participate in charity events, organise collections, raise awareness and generally help as much as I can whenever, wherever it is possible.

If you can help me achieve my goal in memory of my Mum who helped so many in her lifetime then I will have succeeded in my mission, and hopefully together we will have contributed to erradicating this awful disease from the human race.
