I am running the distance of a marathon over the summer. However this is a marathon with a difference as I am participating in four 10km runs and then my biggest challenge yet, a sprint triathlon (half the Olympic triathlon).

Why? I am not sure that I can do a full marathon anymore as I don't want to precipitate an injury, but the dream (or nightmare depending on your perspective!) still burns within me so this seemed like the next best thing!

Events: Vitality London1000, Vitality British 10k, Great Newham 10km and 2k family run with my children, Regents Park series 10km, sprint triathlon tbc.

The physical challenge is tough and so is the fundraising target that I have set myself. Please help me achieve or even surpass it by making a donation however small and register your support.

Separated Child Foundation is a charity that has become personal for me. It is a charity that offers emotional, social, financial, and physical support to children and young people in the UK who have been separated from family.

One of their projects is the making up and distribution of "arrival packs". These duffel bags contain toiletries, basic clothing, towel, and other essentials. Demand for these packs has increased dramatically over the past year.

They are packed by an army of volunteers known affectionately as "Purple Packers", stored thanks to the generosity of The Big Yellow at Staples Corner, and distributed by a small team (known affectionately as Angela and me) to local authorities and refugee agencies. 

The money raised will fund a trial initiative of "Sleep Packs" at one of the reception centres in Dover.  The packs contain lavender pouches, a night light, a card, eye mask and ear plugs to help this vulnerable group of young people sleep at night as many have become nocturnal during their journeys here.
