Story
Having turned 40 this year I wanted a challenge and when the opportunity came to take part in the Muskathlon in Uganda this year I jumped at it. Our sponsored son of 8 years, Isaac, lives in Uganda and I will be able to visit him and his family and the village that we have helped with various projects. I want to see first hand the difference our money is making.
The running part is the only obstacle!! I am not a big fan of running which makes it all the more challenging and have only ever run 10k, the thought of running 13 miles in the hot, dry climate of Africa is rather frightening but I have started training and am determined to do it, and do it in a not-overly-embarrasing time....
My Mum is accompanying me on my trip, as a retired schoolteacher, as she wants to help with the children's events we are holding in Uganda and also to meet her sponsored son, Christopher. It will be a trip we will experience together.
I realise that the fundraising target is huge, but it is only a target and every £ sponsored will go to support projects that Compassion run. This specific project is to raise cash to build five classrooms at a small village in Uganda that I will be going to.
So, if you feel you are able to sponsor me, I would be very grateful and it might even push me to run that little bit faster......
Blessings,
Lucy xxx
