We enable people with learning disabilities to live the lives they choose

Story

I am passionate about the rights of people with learning disabilities to live free and full lives!  I have been fortunate enough to play a small part in making this happen during my career.  As with all things much has been achieved but much is yet to be achieved!

Funding is now unbelievably tough as austerity has increasingly hit social care, while the demand has grown year on year (and will continue to do so).  Many of the things that would have been ordinarily funded by the State are no longer and the people we support face the potential of experiencing increasingly reduced life opportunities.  Depending how far the squeeze goes it is possible that large scale institutional living may return for many.

At Brandon we are shouting a loud and resounding NO to this!  We have started to fundraise to stop this direction of travel and continue to enable people to live increasingly independently and make their rightful contributions to their local communities and society at large.

In the light of all this, I have agreed to do a horrifying zip wire challenge (over a large quarry in Wales) on October 16th, and I would be just SO grateful if you could make a donation.

At Brandon we are making a statement and a commitment to moving forwards rather than backwards.
