Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you are aware, on 18 March my dad had a cardiac arrest while giving a lecture in London. He was fortunate enough to receive assistance from staff at the Architecture School, who gave him CPR until the London Ambulance Service arrived. His heart had stopped and they used a defibrillator on him several times before rushing him to St Thomas’ Hospital, where he was treated in ICU for 12 days. He was then moved to a recovery ward for a further three weeks, before being discharged after exactly five weeks in hospital. He is now relaxing at home in Thorverton and spending his time typing away in the attic, and getting increasingly frustrated that he cannot legally drive and escape the village!
I have no doubt that had my dad not received such quality care by the Ambulance Service and St Thomas’ Hospital his recovery would not be so successful. Not only did all of the staff tend to him but they also took the time to speak to my family and I, providing us with news and updates, giving us messages which at times would have been very challenging to convey, and they were always extremely kind and supportive during a very difficult for time for us. For this reason I am cycling 100 miles for both the ambulance service and the hospital on 31 July. Any support you can offer to them to continue their great work would be greatly appreciated.
