Story
Thank you for visiting my RedEarth fundraising page!
Having taught for several years and finished my masters in Comparative and International Education, I decided to volunteer for a year in Uganda with RedEarth Education - an organisation making a big difference to rural schools in western Uganda.
Before I go, I'm raising £2000 to support RedEarth. Friends in Oxford have already helped to raise almost £600 and it would be wonderful if you could help me raise another £1000. This money will allow the work of RedEarth to continue and grow - equipping more teachers with the skills they need, and allowing more children to learn and enjoy school.
Despite ongoing efforts to improve education, less than one third of Ugandan children complete primary school. Most leave school unable to read. However, there has been a tangible difference in the region where RedEarth has been working - teachers have acquired new strategies and expertise, schools have learned how to create effective resources from local materials, children's learning is improving and fewer are dropping out. Even the Ministry of Education have been surprised at what is possible!
