Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
One in four of us will suffer with a mental health problem during our lifetime. This is almost as many as those who are diagnosed with cancer.
However, diagnosis of a condition and the follow up mental health care and support on the NHS is a lengthy, frustrating process.
Charities such as Havering Mind are there to provide support and understanding at a time when its needed the most, supporting an individual in crisis.
Our Niece, Gracie, has been recently and finally diagnosed (after several years of struggling) with borderline personality disorder.
Some of the symptoms of this condition include self harming behaviour, attempts at suicide, abandonment issues, intense out of control emotion. This condition is treated by medication and a range of different talking therapies. And recovery is a long process.
The mind.org.uk website explains the condition and treatments in much more detail.
Therefore, we have decided to take on the London to Brighton challenge to raise money for our local Mind charity - Havering Mind.
We are entering as a team - A very big thank you to Terence, Chris, Aran and Sam, who are also taking part in the walk for this cause.
We will be walking the 100KM which takes on average 20 - 33 hours (!!!!) starting on Saturday morning at Richmond and walking through the day and night till we reach Brighton. (And we thought the Yorkshire Three Peaks was tough ARRRGHHH)
There is no doubt this will be a challenge and a half and so it would be most definitely appreciated and welcomed if you could donate some of your hard earned cash to support us and this worthwhile charity.
Blisters at the ready gang!
