Story
In the summer of 2004, at 3 years old, our beautiful daughter, Jasmine was diagnosed with Autism. She was completely non verbal, had the most horrendous tantrums, had no social skills & completely lived in her "own" world. With the diagnosis of Autism our whole world fell apart & with it ,all our hopes & dreams of what the future would hold for Jasmine.
Some months later we came across The Toby Henderson Trust, who focus on early intervention with autistic children. Jasmine started attending twice a week for intensive playroom therapy sessions. Through the staff who worked at the centre Jasmine began to develop an imagination, she began to communicate with symbols & more importantly to us, began to vocalise a few requests ( namely food that she loved).
As Jasmine has got older The Toby Henderson Trust has always been there for us to offer support & advice when we needed it most.I am now fortunate enough to work for this amazing charity and get to work with amazingly special children everyday along with offering support to their families.
I am doing the Great North Run to say a big thank you to The Toby Henderson trust, for being there through the darkest times for us all. The continued funds that we can raise will go towards helping other families with newly diagnosed children
