Story
In lieu of flowers, anybody who would like to can donate to the Children's Reading Fund in memory of Beatrice.
Beatrice loved to tell stories. As a child she was an ardent reader and, as a parent and aunt to five young children, reading and story-telling were a great part of her everyday. Particular favourites began with Spot the Dog and grew to include the Bullerbys, Mischievous Emil, Till Owlyglass and Karlson on the Roof as well as classics from her own childhood like the The Phantom Tollbooth, Chronicles of Narnia and Little House on the Prairie.
Throughout her life Beatrice believed in the importance of imagination and, particularly, the vital role of story-telling in developing children's capacity to richly experience the world around them. She participated in numerous projects to support children's creativity such as her time running craft activities at the Rainbow Playgroup, as Pen-Pals Co-ordinator for a childhood disability organisation and her work illustrating 'Launch Pad' activities for Young Authors Publishing Group. We feel that this charity reflects Beatrice's personal values and the kind of legacy that she would wish to leave in her name.
Thank you,
