We care for seriously ill children to help them 'Make every day count'

Story

Hi - so eventually we completed our row - with a few hurdles thrown in by the arcane cartel of Dover Pilots - on Tuesday 19 June in 3 hours 22 minutes.  We had a fantastic adventure, it certainly wasn't calm, however when I suggested it was rough water, the Captain of Dover RC (a flippin star) looked at me to question whether I was man enough to take to the high seas in one of his boats.

We had a welcoming committee from the French Coast Guard and Police force - only later did we realise they were far more interested in the WW2 unexploded mine that was floating just off the coast - all other shipping had been halted, but we were blissfully unaware of the danger.

The crew was Nadia Balhi, Keith Dixon, Ben Gothard, Brendan Desomond (cox) and David Harrand and we plan to row from Dover to Calais on either June 11/12/13/14 weather dependent.

About the charity

When a family has been told that there’s no cure for their child’s illness, Little Havens Hospice can help. Our specialist care is free but we have to raise £46,000 every week to be there for everyone who needs us. That's only possible because of you. Together we're 'Making every day count'.
