Story
My step daughter had epilepsy when she was 6 years old. She is now 16 and in August 2015, it returned. Despite medication she still isn't fully controlled. People think of epilepsy as shaking but there are over 40 types of seizures, she has 5 different types. My wife and I have sleepless nights watching her and worrying if she would have one in her sleep. The NHS don't provide monitors. We are lucky enough to be in a position to buy a pulse guard monitor to alert us if she had a shaking one but we wouldn't be alerted if she had a focal one and we were concerned she would suffocate. When I was researching I found, Epilepsy sucks UK. A friendly charity who kindly donated my daughter an anti suffocation pillow. They gave us a life line and relieved some of the anxiety we felt. I owe the people behind this charity my sincere thanks. In the uk 1 in 103 people have epilepsy, in children 1 in 240 have it. I hope with this challenge I can fund more pillows for families and save more precious lives. I hope you can please donate even if only pennies they all make prizes or pillows in the end!
