After years of having what I thought was kidney infections I found out I had a congenital defect in my right kidney. A year ago I had my kidney operated on and had part of it removed. I had many journeys back and forth to Raigmore and it was a financial strain on top of everything else this including leaving my fantastic mother (who has been super throughout all this) to look after my three young children.
The Western Isles Kidney Patient Association helped me out and were always there for me if i needed help or support. I didn't know much about this fantastic charity until I became unwell.
I knew once I got better I would try to do done fundraising for them, as my appreciation for everything they done for me while I was unwell. I them heard about the Beast Race and thought to myself I wonder if I can manage this?. I asked my two wonderful cousins Brenda and Karen if they would do this epic obstacle course with me and we also invited our friend Janine to join us! We wanted Cailleachs in our team name and Janine's surname was Kelt - hence the name Keltic Cailleachs.
There are so many people who are affected by kidney disease and I hope to raise enough to help this fabulous charity to help out other families as they did me!
