Luke was born with congential heart disease (half a heart) which meant from the day he was born he faced major open surgery on numerous occasions. From the first operation he showed us just what a fighter he was going to be!
In 2009 Luke suffered a major setback following a standard cardiac catheter procedure leaving him quadriplegic, from which the medical staff said he would never recover or walk again. This is where we saw the true spirit of Luke when he fought back and regained most of his mobility defying all the odds and was also able to walk again unaided!
Luke was a typical boy into everything, excelling in school and was very popular. He wanted to become a cardiac doctor to help other children just like him, but always said he wished he was the only child with the condition.
On Luke's final open heart surgery in March 2012 the procedure was initially a success, however there were numerous complications and issues which at this stage are unexplained. sadly on the 9th of April 2012 Luke lost his fight for life with half a heart.
As Luke wanted to help children similar to himself we would like to carry on his wishes and continue his memory.
Please follow the link below to read about Luke's fight for life with half a heart in the local press paying tribute to the amazing, brave and wonderful little boy that he was.
