My sister Dionne was diagnosed with terminal cancer a year ago. She is currently being looked after by the staff of the amazing Kirkwood Hospice in Huddersfield.
My sister explains it better than I ever could, so here is her story...
I just wanted to pass a little note on to anyone who may have been given a terminal diagnosis for cancer and has been apprehensive about approaching the hospice for support. I was in the very same position but braved the Drop In sessions a couple of times and realised what a wonderful, uplifiting place this really is. I am now in the inpatient ward and I cannot recommend enough considering here as part of your plans as I am not sure you will ever find a place that is more caring, attentive, competent and generally bloody marvelous!
It's not scary- unless staying in a 5* retreat is scary where all your aches and pains are addressed and sorted with the click of a button.
I wanted to write this now because I wanted personally to say thanks to all the amazing staff here- I have had my breath taken away by the level of comfort and calm that have been restored since being here. Thank you Kirkwood- you are as one of your staff members says in the magazine - ' a little bit of heaven'. Dionne xxxxxxxx
