Story
Let me start by saying that I hate running - seriously I take absolutely no pleasure at all in going out for a run!... That said I have wanted to complete a marathon for a while now (don't ask me why!?!) and so I've set myself a challenge, to complete the Bournemouth marathon in October 2016. I am now asking for your help to turn my pain and discomfort in to something really worthwhile, so please support me in fundraising for an amazing charity based in Cardiff, called 'Faceup Cymru'.
'Faceup' has been set up by health care professionals and patients, to support them through the journey of managing and coming to terms with the diagnosis of head and neck cancer.
They self-raise and need funding to be able to provide specialist equipment for head and neck patients, as well as a dedicated Physiotherapist, Social Worker and clinical nurses, specialising in wound care. The long term ambition is to provide a dedicated meeting place, with a social gathering space and confidentiality rooms.
As well as offering expert advice, this amazing charity run confidence building and coping strategy Patient Self-Help Groups. These sessions help so many to find their feet again, at their own pace during a traumatic part of a patients life.
If you can spare even just a few pounds of your hard earned money, you would be supporting an amazing charity. You'll also make my blisters worth something.
