On the 29th March 2016 my childhood and lifelong friend Agnes Freeburn tragically lost her hard-fought battle against cervical cancer at the age of 41 years old.
Agnes was a fantastic mother, daughter, sister and a very special friend. During the final stages of her life Agnes was admitted to the Ayrshire Hospice. The Ayrshire Hospice and all of the staff helped to make an extremely sad and difficult time as comfortable and personal as possible for Agnes and all of her family and friends.
I am personally truly thankful for the time that I was able to spend with Agnes during her time there. I saw first hand the amazing help and service the hospice and the dedicated staff provide. And it is for this reason that I really want to help them in any way I can, to continue their great work.
Not sure exactly what I could do to help I visited the hospice website and discovered the China trek. More importantly I noticed that the start date is Agnes's birthday (21st October) and so I felt that it was fate. Before I knew it I had made the call and now it's really happening!
