You are all aware of the crisis that has hit Syria, with thousands of innocent lives lost due to circumstances beyond their control. According to the United Nations over 250,000 people have been killed and an estimated 4 million refugees have fled the crisis in Syria. The majority of the refugees have moved to Jordan and Lebanon but have little in the way of shelter, food, medical and sanitary care. Jordan have already taken in more than 600,000 refugees to date and this number is growing!
My husband and I have taken up the challenge to raise money for Human Relief Foundation and personally travel to Jordan to support the refugee crisis. But we cannot do this without your support and donations. Every penny you donate will go towards shelter, food, water, sanitary care and medical expenses. With our physical presence at the refugee camps in Jordan, we will ensure every penny of your donations goes towards this humanitarian crisis.
The below points will give you an insight into some of the work that will be carried out and where your money will be used:
1) We will be visiting the Zataari refugee camp (10km south of the Syrian border), which is currently “home” to 90,000 refugees. Within this camp a rehabilitation centre is currently being built, this will allow the team to set in place a scheme to provide education and care for orphans and disabled children.
2) There is also a woman's organisation centre called Syrians Women's Association (SWA) to support single Syrian mothers who are now responsible for their families. We will have the opportunity to visit the centre and meet the women to provide support to them in anyway possible.
3) We will be involved in creating activities such as sporting games and fun days for children to take part in.
4) We will create food packs which will contain the basic necessities such as; rice, oil, lentils, wheat, tea etc. The pack will provide food for a family for an entire month.
Being able to provide support and aid in terms of education, food and welfare of the sufferers is a massive contribution from your part and will help to atleast lesser the pain of the many many refugees.
This is the first time we are both embarking on such an emotional journey. We want to make this a success by bringing just a simple smile to those people who have only ever endured suffering and pain. But we cannot do this without your support. So please donate as much as you can, remember every penny counts however small the amount :)
