Story
I'm a very lucky woman, I have loving friends and family, as I slip towards my fiftieth birthday I will be celebrating in style, but also want to do some good, hence no presents at my party, but a small donation here would make my heart sing.
If the total reaches £800 that will be sufficent to buy the wood necessary to refurbish the Peace Park in Podujeva.
Pam Dawes from Mak writes:
Manchester aid to Kosovo (MaK) formed as a humanitarian aid response at the height of the ethnic cleansing campaign in 1999. Five cousins who survived the massacre of their family were medically evacuated to Manchester by the British army.
The children, aged 6-13, asked MaK to make the Manchester Peace Park in their home town of Podujeva, close to the border with Serbia. 22 acres of land have been developed by MaK , assisted by friends at the Eden Project and volunteers from the UK and Kosovo.
A children’s playground , one of the first of its kind in Kosovo, was created in the Peace Park in 2006. After constant use for the last 7 years MaK wants to rebuild the playground. £800 could provide the wood volunteers from the UK and Kosovo need to build a new playground later this year.
Marie feels very blessed and does not want presents. However should you wish to make a donation to Marie’s Playground please make out a cheque to MaK
With Gift Aid donations gain 25p for every £1 donated.
