We are running the Salford 10k on the 4th of September 2016 in memory of our colleague Joe Byrne, who tragically passed away in January of this year at the age of 28. Joe suffered from a condition known as Essential Hypertension (high blood pressure with no known secondary cause). This condition was the underlying cause of Joes passing.

We are raising money for the British Hypertension Society, to support their ongoing research into this area. The Society has a track record of producing internationally renowned guidelines for the management of hypertension which are widely adopted in primary care in the UK and elsewhere. They have also have an established educational programme to support scientists, doctors and other healthcare workers involved in understanding the basis of high blood pressure and improving its treatment throughout the UK.
