Remembering my Mum who died August 30th this year . At Mum's funeral, the two words that came up over and over again was 'kind' and ‘friendly’ - that is how everyone remembers my Mum. There were a lot of other lovely things said, but these words stood out the most. That has made me think more about how I deal with people every day, and to make sure that I am kind and friendly, and more like my Mum, at all times, and with all people. I hope I can live up to that. There were many people throughout her end of life period that were really kind and helpful too and I do feel this warmth came back to reward my Mum.
The Irish Hospice Foundation is our national charity dedicated to all matters relating to dying, death and bereavement in Ireland. They receive no core funding from the State and rely on your generosity and support to keep the services going.
From what my family witnessed from the Hospice care service in Delvin they offered unbelievable end-of-life care and bereavement support for all us. The problem is, this is not available for everyone, when they need it, where they need it.
With your help we can change that.
