Story
On the 10th September I will be slipping into my
Lycra and setting off on my bike to take part in the Ultimate UK cycle
challenge fondly known as LEJOG. This challenge is not for the faint hearted
and this gruelling journey will take me from one end of the country to the
other starting in Land’s End and finishing in John O’Groats – an impressive 960
miles over 9 days!
I have always had a personal ambition to complete this ride
but now through my role of fire officer at Queen’s Hospital I have also found a
reason to actually do it. As I set off
from Lands End and endure the pain of climbing the tight and hilly Cornish
coastline I will be spurred on knowing that I will be raising funds for people
less fortunate than me. I have personal knowledge of the fantastic care that is
given to those in our community who are fighting cancer and receiving chemotherapy
in our Sunflower Suite at Queens Hospital.
My challenge will support them.
I would like to raise at least £1.00 for every mile I
cycle. I am funding this complete venture
myself so every single £1.00 donated will be spent on cancer services at King
George and Queen’s Hospitals.
