I am running this 10K to help raise some funds for Second Chance Animal Rescue which is based not too far from where I live. This will be my second fund raiser that I have done for them and once again I will be taking on the (very tough) Petts Wood 10K!

Who Are Second Chance Animal Rescue?

Second Chance Animal Rescue (SCAR) was started in 2011 by John Ranger. Setting up a rescue of this type has always been John's dream. As a young lad he tried to help injured animals and birds and rescued many wild animals over the years. 

In 2011 a plot of land was found in Crockenhill where the rescue could really get started and he has built up the reputation of the rescue as it is today. The rescue survives solely on donations and help from our team of volunteers. 

Wherever possible we try and find a new forever home for the rescued animals we take in. Should we not be able to re-home any animal then they are allowed to live out there life at the Rescue. SCAR never puts a fit, healthy animal to sleep. SCAR's ethos "live and let live”. The rescued animals may have suffered prior to reaching SCAR so should be allowed to have a happy life enjoying freedom and enrichment that SCAR has to offer.

The volunteers at SCAR have helped to rescue, care for and give forever homes to a complete range of different animals, Including:

• Pigs
• Horses
• Cats
• Ducks / Geese / Chickens
• Cows
• Sheeps
• Goats
• Guinea Pigs & Rabbits

The rescue is run by volunteers and relies on the generosity of others to help with donations of time, food, bedding and money.
