Story
Like 100,000 others in the UK and 2 million worldwide I have an incurable, progressive disease called Multiple Sclerosis. It is a cruel illness that attacks your own immune system. It is utterly unpredictable: both in terms of severity and how it can give you any or all of about 50 symptoms, none of them pleasant and all of them disabling.
Thanks to my wonderful family and a few great friends, I continue to enjoy life and plan to do so for a long time yet - though even now every day is a struggle for me, and probably more so for my long-suffering wife and children.
Because I can hardly manage to walk round a shop, marathons, swimathons, triathlons etc are definitely out...
This year then I'll be taking a helicopter flight across London with Joanne, tumbling out of a plane with my cousin Ken, and soaring serenely over Dunstable Downs in a glider. All things that I can do as a 'normal' person and for a few glorious moments forget I am disabled.
I'm raising money for the simply amazing Chilterns MS Centre, whose staff and volunteers do an amazing job day in day out giving physical and emotional support to people with every stage and variety of MS. They are a huge lifeline to me.
