Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In early 2014 I was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in my tongue and neck. The news came as a major shock but I was lucky. In March 2014 the tumour was successfully removed by dissection and radiotherapy was not required.
During my treatment and recovery I found great solace in the CLAN house in Aberdeen. They are a warm and friendly organisation that offers support to patients, friends and family who are affected by this all too common disease.
I was lucky with my treatment but the support, information and therapies offered by CLAN made a huge difference to me and I can imagine this is invaluable to thousands of others each year.
I wanted to give something back to this charity as they require £2.5 million per year to be operational, without any government funding. The fact CLAN has support centres in Elgin, Fraserburgh and Peterhead to name a few gives the location of this challenge a more personal feel to all involved.
Our challenge is the play one hole on 50 different golf courses, in less than 2 days.
Myself and 3 close friends, Stuart Brown, Munro Grierson and Derek Findlay start our challenge on the 1st tee, Brora Golf Club at 3.45am on Monday 22nd June. From there we head south, then east, playing one hole on 50 different golf courses to finish at the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre less than 41 hours later.
We would be very grateful if you would consider supporting us through sponsorships and in turn helping the amazing organisation, CLAN.
Kind Regards Martin Reid
