Story

Martin Andrew Sutherland

11 August 1984 – 15 December 2011

Before taking his own life at the age of 27, Martin suffered from mental illness for some time. He was an intelligent, articulate and talented individual whose young life was blighted by severe mental health issues. Mental illness is known to affect a significant percentage of the population at some stage in their lives and research is essential to the understanding and treatment of this illness in order to avoid such tragedies. Mental Health Research UK has been chosen in this instance because it exists to fund research into mental illnesses, their causes and cures.
