Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Mary Ann's JustGiving page.

Mary Ann Stevens sadly passed away on 12th June 2016. Mary Ann was a loyal wife and friend, a loving mother and a doting grandmother.  Among her many talents, she was a gifted librarian with a passion for language and literature, and she devoted most of her working life to running the children’s library and the Barbican Centre in London, for which she was awarded the Freedom of the City of London.

Mary Ann’s funeral will take place at Southend Crematorium on Friday 8th July 12:40.  She had a huge circle of friends and for those of you who wish to offer flowers in remembrance of Mary Ann, we feel it would be more fitting to put the money towards a cause for which she felt passionate.  Please use this JustGiving site to help us raise money through donations for The Book Trust which through its BookStart scheme, gifts free books to all children at two key ages before school to help families read together every day and inspire children with a rewarding love of books.

We thank you all for your condolences and support during this difficult time,

Becca, Dirk and Jeff.
