Story
On Sunday 10th July 2016, I will be fulfilling a life-long ambition to do a full Iron Man Distance at Hever Castle, swimming 2.5 miles, riding 110 miles, then running a full marathon.
As many of you know, my daughter Grace sadly lost her battle to (DIPG) Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma on July 14th 2012. At the young age of 5, she fought with such strength and courage to the very end. People say this challenge is going to be hard, but in comparison to the journey we've been on, what we've endured, I can honestly say I don't mind. Grace is my inspiration and my strength and I will carry this memory with me all the way.
The Children with Cancer Fund in Polegate is a small, local charity, who we were referred to when Grace was started on palliative care. They granted her wish to do a pony club for the day, making wonderful memories for us to cherish. Since Grace passed away, they have continued to support us, inviting us to many organised events, a family holiday last year to the Isle of Wight, and granting wishes for us all. It's things like this that bring us closer together as a family, and ensure that we continue to make special memories with our children, always with Grace in mind.
To give something back to a charity that has done so much for us, means a lot to me. Thank you for helping me achieve this. Matt.
