Later this year on the 19th of June. I will be running the Shrewsbury Half Marathon in aid of ARCO. This will be particularly challenging as I've managed to pretty much avoid doing exercise for the last two and half years since coming to music college

Arco is a musical collaboration between Birmingham Conservatoire and Cape Gate MIAGI Centre for Music, Soweto Johannesburg. It delivers music education which is more comprehensive and diverse than currently available in South Africa, whilst giving teaching opportunities to students in Birmingham.

Throughout this year students at the centre have been given weekly one on one lessons from staff and students at Birmingham Conservatoire via Skype. In addition to this weekly string meeting and concerts at Birmingham have been streamed to the centre giving a level of inspiration that the never otherwise have access to.

Currently Arco is in the process of sending out over £14000 worth of instruments that have been donated to the project for students to begin to play on. Over next year two trips are planned, one in August and one in March 2017. The aim of the trips will be to provided a week long workshops consisting of lessons, chamber music and concerts. These will be given by both staff and students from Birmingham. 

The hope that this project will continue to grow over the years and form a strong link between Birmingham
