Story

Matt was an active 49yr old husband and father with a successful career. His son was about to start his final A levels and daughter in her first year at university.

So it was a massive shock when training for another marathon,he was diagnosed with an aggressive, malignant and inoperable brain tumour. His health quickly deteriorated leaving him unable to walk or use the right side of his body. At the same time  he underwent radio and chemotherapy over several months.

Slowly with amazing willpower, courage and medical care he patiently fought his condition. Although the cancer has left him with no sensation on the right side of his body, slowly  he has taught himself to walk again, his speech has recovered and his memory is coming back.

Against the odds the cancerous tumour has disappeared-a miraculous recovery.

"I have now decided to set myself a massive challenge: to walk 5 km in The Big Fun Run on 30 October 2016 to raise money for the Hospice in the Weald which provides specialist palliative care to patients, families and careers."

All donations mean a lot and will help the Hospice in the Weald to continue its great work

You can also help to support this by joining Matt in this challenge and encouraging as many family and friends to take part by registering in the Fun Run by visiting http://www.bigfunrun.com/victoria-park/
