We fund high-quality research to repair spinal cord injury

Story

Hello, I am running (crawling whilst crying) the 2016 London Marathon for a couple reasons.

One is I'm an idiot who loves a challenge. So the selfish part of me is taking on a marathon. For one time only. This is not my new hobby!

The second is that I want to fundraise for spinal research due to my family's understanding of their research due to my father being paralysed in a car crash when I was ten.  I feel fundraising should be a challenge and although I admit I am looking forward to the completing the marathon it should be understood that I hate running, hate it. And training, just ask my old team mates.

Did I mention I am not a massive fan of running... I hate running... By trade I am a rugby union prop. This is not going to be natural. My happy place is in a scrum. Or eating food...

Please donate what you can for this fantastic life changing charity and trust that this is not going to be pleasant for me but I will give everything to make your donations worthwhile. My target is sub 4 hours. Yep I am putting that out there. Probably my second mistake. After signing up...!

Spinal Research is a pioneering charity. Its aim is to find ways to repair spinal cord injury and reverse the paralysis that results from it. Based in the UK and recognised as a leader in its field, Spinal Research funds groundbreaking projects at scientific and medical institutions around the world. The next landmark is the launch of clinical trials with paralysed volunteers. These trials will test innovative treatments that could repair damage in the human spinal cord, and so restore sensation and movement.
