As most of you know last July I was given the terrifying news that I have lung cancer. I started a course of  aggressive chemotherapy which made me a bit poorly but it did shrink the tumour . Unfortunately the chemo was damaging my kidneys also. My Oncologist said that I needed a break from any treatment for a while for my body to recover which was nice in a way because I could enjoy Christmas with my beautiful family without being ill.

At the beginning of this year we were told of a new  immuneatherpy drug called nivumalab, which had no side affects and could potentially cure my lung cancer. A couple of months later, after some tests I was told my protein levels were a match so I could be put on this treatment. Myself and my family felt like I had been given a miracle.

I had six sessions of this treatment and felt absolutely fine, no side affects. After the six sessions , I went for a c t scan. A few days later I went for the results, Unfortunately the new treatment wasn't working for me, the tumour is still there and has grown and spread a little bit.

So now I will be started on another course of chemotherapy. This one will definatly make me poory, and I will definatly loose my hair because of the side affects.

So before I loose my hair to the chemo,I want to make it my choice to shave it of to raise money for the cancer treatment and research trust at mount Vernon hospital. Because although it didn't work for me, they gave me the opportunity to try it. If I hadn't tried I would never known if it had worked or not.

Cancer research are always discovering new treatments to give cancer patients a better chance of survival.

I do still need to arrange a time and venue to have my hair shaved off by my daughter Chelsea Atkins. I will keep you updated on here. Thankyou all so much for your kind donations and support.
