Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I started running at the end of January this year! Not having run for 14 years prior and some 14 years prior to that. My last attempt at running was cut short after a fall on the way home from a wedding (I was "relatively" sober but my shoes certainly were ill fitting).
I've completed Athena running club's 0-5k in 8 weeks -new ladies only running club in St Albans- and nearly completed the 5-10k programme. I've run two 5k park runs to date. I'm not fast and don't find it easy and have had Achilles tendon issues for weeks.
I came across this opportunity to run for In Deep through work. I think it's a great small charity and has won various awards. It is London-focussed but tackling loneliness for older people etc is hugely important in an ageing society in any geographical area. I used to work in this area at DWP (and I'll sooner be and older person going by the 50+ definition!). I love the idea of being a faux athlete running through Central London.
To make you more convinced on my credentials I am also running 5k at the St Albans Half Marathon in June, a 10k summer solstice run in June and the 10k Race for Life in St Albans in July! I have also been doing yoga weekly for the last 4 months. A mid-life crisis?, perhaps...
And no I have no desire to ramp up my running right now to a half marathon or anything more.
