I'm closely connected with both of these charities and know the immense value of the work they do. That has been my motivation behind a busy year of fundraising events, the last of which will be jumping out of a plane at 13000ft....

It was difficult finding an instructor and club willing to take me on but I suppose when everyday living has its challenges, skydiving is a bit extreme... I am a bit deficient in the landing gear department!

Having a go and having fun is the ethos of Springboard, which is why I'm desperate to raise some much needed money for them. I too have lived with the emotional and physical challenges faced by the children and young people in their groups. I rarely talk about it, but do know how hard it is sometimes just to do the everyday things, and how horrible it feels to be left out when you can't join in.

The beauty of Springboard is that no-one's left out and it's all about having fun, making friends and having a go at all sorts of things in a supportive environment, which helps build life skills, confidence and resilience. It really does change lives.

This appeal focuses on Springboard, but they are always quick to acknowledge the support they receive from Crawley Community & Voluntary Service - my other charity.
