Mel and Celia co-ordinate and organise all the fundraising
for the Wilmslow Animal Sanctuary. Mel is the glamorous front and also does all the behind the scenes IT, marketing and contacting business etc. Celia is the hands on half of the partnership, sorting through donations and organising events. You can see from the photo that they are well suited to their roles! 

What they are not are runners, but true to their motto ‘Anything for the animals’ they have bought their running shoes, downloaded the ‘Couch to 10k’ app (affectionately dubbed the ‘Couch to Coffin’ app) and started training.

Mel - I am RUNNING, yes running, the Manchester 10K to raise money for the Wilmslow Animal Sanctuary. A small independent charity that is very close to my heart. My lovely compadre in this event will be Celia who is going to run also as support. 

This will be an intense personal challenge for me on a number of levels.

I do not enjoy running in fact I find it intensely boring!

I can't run for more than 60 seconds without getting out of breath - despite being of average build I am terribly unfit. 

I need to be careful doing any high impact exercise due to having a long term health condition. 

Anyone who knows me well knows that I do not do EXTREME challenges or anything EXTREMELY ridiculous - unless, of course, it's for the animals.

Brian (long-suffering-allergic-to-cats-husband) almost wet himself when I announce my entry into this run, and declared he'd 'pay good money' to see me do this challenge! So Brian, put your money where your mouth is!

So on Sunday 22nd May I will live up to my motto which is 'anything for the animals'.

Celia - Well, here I am, overweight, over fifty and a very reluctant and unfit runner! I have run/walked a 10k before, but it was 10 years ago and I don’t think I have run a single step since. So this is a real challenge for me and one which I am finding very daunting. I hope to get fitter and a little leaner, but most of all I want to raise loads of money for a place that I am passionate about.
