We have an entry in the Inaugural http://www.micklegaterun.co.uk/ on the cobbles of the ancient City of York street, an event which should be a fabulous day out come rain or shine.

I am an Engineer Surveyor by day for Zurich Engineering, (and  a Machine Shop owner by night & weekend, my wife would say !!) most people will be unaware of my Profession, I carry out Statutory Examinations on anything from Shackles to Tower Cranes, Lifts, Fork Trucks, Escalators, etc in fact anything that Lifts something or indeed any piece of Work relating equipment, to ensure that both the public and workers are protected in their every day use of such equipment, Consultancy Services (My last project was the Supervising of the complex lifts of Three items to the top of Drax power station, valued @ £6.5 Million each, taking 72 hours for each lift) and then on the really bad days Accident Investigation , so by raising money specifically for equipment I find that highly satisfying, never done anything like this before and this brings together my love for Engineering, making things, repairing things and raising money for a cause very close to my heart.

My wife had a Kidney Transplant in Leeds 2 year ago on the day of the event, donated by the selfless act of her mother, Ann on her 75th Birthday still going, very strong today,  She did this with no fear or thought to herself, a gift which no amount of Sponsorship I could possibly raise, could buy at any price.

Richard Mellen, one of our Team member's Daughter, Lydia an inspirational young lady had a Liver Transplant, also in Leeds 7 year ago at the tender age of 7 and has since won Medals for GB in the Transplant Games.

I am supported alongside Richard by Phillip Carter, a fellow Engineer Surveyor, also of Zurich Engineering and Graham Parkhill, a Telecoms Engineer who ensures your mobile phones coverage is as it should be.

My Employer Zurich, will match £ for £ what I raise up to £500, any business that wishes to buy advertising on the Soap Box please contact me, space is limited and we already have 4 companies on board.

If you have got this far, then I thank you for taking the time to read and take in my quest, and hope you can join us on the day. If you are unable to contribute, I understand that too, please come along on the day, say hello and just enjoy a great day out in the fabulous City of York and cheer us on throughout the day. We will be in our Pit area on the day in the York Cycleworks gazebo, one of our main sponsors and the finest bike shop in York, who I represent in their team colours.

Thank You for your valuable time... Team Transplant
