Story

Thank you for visiting my page.   I had heard about Mercy Ship and was so inspired with the stories of life saving, life changing surgeries that happened on-board this amazing floating hospital. Mercy Ships also partners with local communities to improve health care, offering training and advice, materials and hands-on assistance.  What an amazing way of sharing God's love in a practical way.

I volunteered in 2015 for 6 months in Madagascar and found the work rewarding, so I would like to commit for a longer time.  My work during this time was doing computer and phone support. My favourite part of volunteering was getting involved with visiting patients and sharing arts & crafts with them.  I also had the opportunity to get involved with some of their community bases projects.

All volunteers raise their own crew fees, transport to the ship, various other expenses and do not get paid while on-board so that free operations can change lives, so all donations are gratefully received.

Mercy Ships is an international charity that provides free medical and humanitarian services to the people of Africa using its hospital ship, the Africa Mercy. In the developing world, lack of access to basic health care can have horrific results. Mercy Ships freely provides relief to the forgotten poor - saving lives, improving quality of life and restoring hope. The Africa Mercy is the world's largest non-governmental hospital ship - staffed with volunteer doctors, nurses, engineers and agriculturists - that visits ports in some of the world's poorest countries. Doctors, surgeons and nurses onboard provide free medical and surgical services, while off ship teams help local communities develop sustainable water, sanitation and education programmes.
