Story
The Guernsey Cheshire home (GCH) is unique on Guernsey, as it is the only facility on the island aimed at caring for islanders with serious physical disabilities, MS, spinal & brain injury, strokes & MND.
However, regrettably it is in the middle of funding crisis. It receives no financial support from the States of Guernsey or Leonard Cheshire Disability and requires £40,000 per month to operate. This is not for any luxuries or building maintenance; this is solely for the necessities of specialist care.
Bearing in mind my diagnosis, many have assumed that the MS society, would be my charity of choice. However, in my eyes, this does not sit comfortably or feel as philanthropic, as a fundraising challenge, such as this should. Therefore, the GCH is one of my personal charities as it provides such amazing care to many islanders with serious disabilities, including those with MS.
Consequently, when im on this trek and when I inevitably have the moments, where I feel that I cannot go on, I know it will be worth it, as with my determined efforts and hopefully YOUR support, we can help this valuable Guernsey resource to continue their valuable and life changing work.
I personally thank you in advance and sincerely hope you feel that you can support me.
