Story
WELL DONE! Thank you to our amazing army of supporters!
You have sent in baubles, written poems and prayers, donated financially, and we have smashed our target for the Christmas bauble donations! God is so faithful. Thank you to every individual who has played their part.
The residents at Mercy UK have been overwhelmed by the love and kindness of the messages in the hundreds of baubles we have received so far.
There's still time to donate!
As the residents have begun their journey to spend Christmas with family or friends, we are well under way with our plans for their return in 2015, along with many other women who will come to find their freedom through our programme next year. If you feel you can give something this Christmas, there is still time.
We are so thankful for what you can share, to join us as we see lives transformed.
...Christmas
is coming! How does that make you feel?
For many of us, Christmas is a time of joy and celebration. A time where family and friends gather for good food, gift-giving, remembering the birth of Christ and giving thanks for all the blessings we have.
For many of the young women that we help, Christmas is a time for heightened stress, broken relationships becoming even more strained, unwelcome memories resurfacing and deeply-rooted insecurities rearing their heads, disturbing relationships and peace.
But this Christmas will be different for our residents. This Christmas there is HOPE.
As part of our celebrations, we will be holding a special day, a day for all our residents to enjoy before they go home for Christmas. Our Merry Mercy Christmas celebrations will come with all the trimmings: crackers, decorations, delicious food, games and gifts. It’s a day that often comes with tears and laughter as God’s unconditional love, forgiveness and life-transforming power is experienced in a tangible way.
We would love for you to be part of this day! So we would love you to write a message of hope, encouragement and love to the residents (you can post a message on this page, or email us at info@mercyministries.co.uk with your message). We will write these messages on paper baubles, and place all these baubles on a tree for them to be read and received during the residents’ day. We know the power of each of your messages of hope will be an incredible expression of God’s love towards them.
Susan, a graduate, explains how Christmas at Mercy impacted her life: ‘Through my time at Mercy and since then, God has restored to me the joy of having family, loving others and also being loved. The essence of Christmas is loving God and loving others. Before Mercy I couldn’t really do either; now I have the joy of receiving the love of a family and God, and showing love and kindness to others.’
May we also ask that when writing your message to the girls, you consider donating a special Christmas gift of £10 towards the work of Mercy Ministries UK? Your gift will allow us to finish the year financially strong and commit to plans to further our work, providing opportunities for lives to be transformed and hope to be restored in the future.
Thank you so much for your willingness, love and support to do something once again to demonstrate the love God in such a real way!
With much love,
The Mercy Ministries UK Team xx
