Cancer is a horrible disease affecting not only the sufferer, but their family and friends.  I have recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer, this came as a great shock to me and has put life into perspective. I have a fantastic life and want to keep it that way for as long as possible.

The NHS have been superb with their treatment and support and I want to give something back.  I was born and bred in Northamptonshire and now live in Leicestershire so I want to support a cancer charity in these areas.  Prostaid does exactly that, it is a  local charity of patients, and urologists, working with Leicestershire, Rutland, Northamptonshire hospitals, helping Prostate Cancer suffers, by raising funds for new innovative equipment and treatment centre funding specialist nurses, offering volunteer support, raising local awareness of the disease in local men.

I train quite regularly in my local gym and wanted to complete a personal challenge to keep my fitness up and help beat this disease, my challenge was to run 10 K’s (just over six miles) in an hour.  When a good friend of mine, Ramone heard about this, he immediately said ‘count me in’, I know that he will push me to the max and together we will beat the hour.  

The Gym (Evington Leisure Centre), are so supportive and when their Manager Luke heard about this, he challenged us, stating that he would run 15 K's in the time that we did 10 K's.  He was so confident that, the challenge was changed to Ramone & me doing the 10 K’s as a relay team.  I am not sure Luke is so confident now - we will see.
