Story
On July 6th 1988 the world witnessed what was to become the worst offshore disaster ever recorded.
That might 167 men perished......including my dad, Hughie Briston.
This year marks the 25 memorial of the Piper Alpha Disaster and the plan is to rededicate the memorial statue in Hazlehead Park, Aberdeen. The Pound for Piper charity is aiming to raise funds to ensure the memorial is maintained for years to come, as a testament to those that lost their lives that night.
I was 13 the day my dad died...although we only had a short time together, the memories we made will last a lifetime.
Memories like family holidays.....dancing to Jim Reeves.....my dad singing "you'll never walk alone".....priceless memories.
I miss my dad more than I'll ever be able to say, to me, he was the greatest dad I could've wished for. My big strong dad who could win over a room of people with a smile that would illuminate the darkest night and a laugh that you couldn't help but find contagious.
Please donate what you can, ensure that the memory of the 167 men lost that night is commemorated for years to come.
With sincere thanks, Michelle
